Multi-Bottle and In-Store Packing

Load and Base Support

Retail and seasonal volume packs invert the gift box brief. Structure, stacking and cost come first. If packing happens in store, operator handling becomes part of the design problem. A still wine bottle runs 1.2 to 1.8 kg filled; champagne and heavy based spirits exceed 2 kg.

We size the box load capacity to at least twice the actual filled weight. Bases get a reinforcing card, a double layer, or an EVA or moulded pulp tray carrying the load. Lid-and-base and drawer formats are the highest risk at the base, so we check that area first.

Handles and Dividers

Handle failure is the most common complaint on multi-bottle boxes. We add a folded-back paper layer at the handle position. The fold sits parallel to the cut edge, so the load path stays in the paper layer instead of tearing at the handle.

For in-store assembly, the divider is where errors happen. We build in two fixes. Orientation arrows plus asymmetric locating tabs mean a reversed divider physically will not seat. Structure solves it, not training. Where one box must take two bottle diameters, we use one divider with two fold positions, marked A and B on the reverse.

Window Position Against Both Labels

Window position is verified against both bottle labels, not sized from one bottle type. A cut made for a still wine label can hide a champagne or spirits label if the shoulder height differs. We set the window after checking the label bands on every bottle in the pack.

On the four-bottle and six-bottle magnetic boxes and the windowed corrugated carrier, this check happens before the first proof is made. We mark the window cut line for your approval, then print the face paper only after the label sightline is confirmed.
