The box that holds a bottle does more than protect it. It sets the tone before the cork is pulled. These are the board grades, facing papers, structures, and inserts we use to build wine gift boxes that feel right in the hand.

Board Standard

We use greyboard from 1200 g minimum, and recommend 1400 g for spirits. Facing paper starts at 157 g specialty or coated. No recycled greyboard, no high-moisture paper. The box should feel solid when lifted, not flimsy.

Six common materials

Greyboard with Specialty Paper

The workhorse for rigid wine boxes. Greyboard gives stiffness, the specialty paper gives the surface character.

Kraft Paper

A natural look that suits organic or minimal brands. Often used for foldable boxes and shipping-friendly gift packaging.

White Card

Clean and bright, it takes crisp printing well. Used when the design calls for a fresh, uncoated feel.

Gold and Silver Cardboard

Metallic facing for a premium shelf presence. Common in celebratory or festive wine gift boxes.

Flocked Paper

Soft to the touch, often used on the interior or as a facing for high-end single-bottle boxes.

Leather-Textured Paper

Gives the look and feel of leather without the cost. Used for leather-style wine boxes and bags.

Rigid Lid and Base

A solid two-piece box that gives a strong unboxing moment.

Magnetic Closure

A hidden magnet keeps the lid shut with a soft snap.

Drawer

The bottle slides out on a tray, often used for wooden or premium boxes.

Foldable

Ships flat and erects quickly, reducing freight volume.

Double-Door

Two panels open from the center to reveal the bottle.

With Handles

A carry handle is built into the structure for easy transport.

Four insert types

Velvet Tray

A soft, padded tray that holds the bottle and adds a luxury feel.

EVA Foam

Dense foam cut to the bottle shape for a precise, protective fit.

Blister

A clear plastic shell that grips the bottle and shows its silhouette.

Paper Mould

Moulded pulp shaped to the bottle, a lightweight and recyclable option.
